The library is funded by the Lao Government for some of its costs, including most salaries. However it would not be able to continue with all of its wonderful learning activities without outside assistance from various groups and individuals.
There are many ways in which you can help Lao children gain an education through assisting the Luang Prabang Library and rural schools to provide children with text books, reading books and other health-related items. Read about some of these below.

BUY BOOKS FOR THE BOOK BAGS
Call in to the library and buy some of the books on sale to be put in to book bags. When there are 100 books in a bag, it is taken by the tuk-tuk library to a rural village school. Books are only US$2.50 each and your donation helps change a child's life through enhancing their education. Schools in Australia support Laos schools
North Beach Primary school has been involved in the program for many years supporting a school in Laos. Hoikor school is an hour north of Luang Prabang by boat. The beautiful story of these schools working together can be found here |
SPONSOR A TUK-TUK LIBRARY TRIP |
If you are visiting Luang Prabang and would like to donate the cost of a complete book bag and its full complement of books, you are also welcome to join the Tuk-Tuk Library on its visit to the village with the books. Please let us know well in advance so arrangements can be made. The cost of the entire tuk-tuk library trip is US$300 which covers the book bag full of books plus the cost of hiring the tuk-tuk for the day. Read more about the Tuk-Tuk Library trips HERE. Of course, you are welcome to sponsor a complete book bag even if you aren't visiting Laos. We are determined to provide as many books as possible to rural village schools. |
DONATE USED CLOTHING
If you have any used children's or adult clothing and/or shoes - and space in your travel bags - the library collects these items for donation to very poor villages and these are distributed at each Tuk-Tuk Library trip. Just bring them to the library and staff will arrange for their distribution. It doesn't matter how old the items are, as long as they are in good condition. |
