The Luang Prabang Library runs a variety of workshops during the year to help involve children in the library and educate them on various issues such as singing and dancing, drawing, puppetry, health and hygiene and story writing. The workshops are offered to local and remote village schools. Each workshop is designed for 25 - 35 primary or secondary students, although in small rural schools, all the students may be involved on the one workshop.
Some of the library workshops are described below, along with the cost of offering them to schools. Where a school is remote, there may be an additional cost to allow for the workshop to be offered to every student, plus for transportation.
Please contact us if you would like to sponsor one or more workshops.

1) Hygiene Workshop Cost of one workshop for 30 students = $50 US
The cost of the workshop provides for soap, toothpaste and toothbrush for a class of 30 students with a set of hygiene books for the class (or for every student in a small rural school). The funds also pay for the transport and the small cost for the Librarian to attend to the class.
The librarian visits the class and spends time with the class, singing songs and discussing the use of the soap and how to wash hands correctly and using a model of a jaw to teach the students how to use their tooth brush and tooth paste.
Here are videos of one workshop held recently at a small rural school, with every student involved in the same session. The children are learning about brushing their teeth and then learning a song about washing their hands.
